Free choice intro

Here’s a question for you: why do people always want what they can’t have? Why does the little kid in the candy store long for the king size candy bar even though he knows his parents won’t buy it for him? Why does the hopeless bachelor dream of finding true love even when he knows that even his mother doesn’t like his face? Is it because of their brain hard-wired human nature? Is it because of something different; like their personalities and personal psyche? Or is it simply because they are too stupid to learn from their past mistakes?  It’s a pretty tough question so don’t be upset if you can’t nail it right away.

Politics of Language

My topic is on how the amount of usage of a word or term determines the power of the word. For example: because the word damn has been used so much, its effectiveness has diminished. On the other hand a word like the N word has increased in power because of its lack of usage.

Snippet

Here's a snippet from the memo:

I’m sitting in a chair next to a water cooler. All I can think about is what Doc will say. There is only two ways this visit can turn out. Either I’m cleared to play and I can get back to playing for the central team, or I am rejected and I have to wait even longer before I get another shot at coming back. To anyone other than me right now, this would probably seem like a very trivial matter, but, to me, the anxiety makes it so much worse. At the moment, I feel like this is life and death.

Should I keep it in first person?
